Dentures in Sutton, Surrey

At Keppel Dentistry, we know how it can feel when you lose some, or all, of your teeth. We understand how this can affect your social life and limit the food you eat, which affects the way your body digests food.

Losing teeth can alter the way you look, changing the dimensions of your face and shortening its length as the jaw slowly moves out of position, adding to the appearance of ageing. Our specialists at Keppel Dentistry can help to restore that fuller, younger look to your face by creating custom-made dentures that match your mouth and complement your face.

Dentures can be either partial or full depending on the number of natural teeth you have. They are moulded to fit comfortably over your gums – partial dentures can be affixed to remaining teeth by clasps which help to keep the appliance securely in position, and they easily unclip.

Fitting your Dentures

The first stage is to take impressions of your mouth before we create a trial denture. This enables your dentist to test the way it fits into your mouth and helps you to gauge the feel and appearance.

We spend time working with you to get the shade of your new denture just right because we want you to be totally happy with the way your dentures look. Your denture can normally be fitted as soon as your teeth are removed, although sometimes your gums may need to be given time to heal first.

If you require dentures to replace lost teeth, one of our talented team of dentists will work with you to make sure they not only fit perfectly but also that they produce a natural look. We know when your dentures are fitted for the first time you may need help and support to adjust to the feel of wearing and using them.

Because we spend time carefully preparing your mouth for new dentures and because we only work with specially selected dental technicians who use the finest materials in the manufacturing process, we guarantee your new dentures from Keppel Dentistry will perfectly fit the contours of your mouth, leaving you feeling confident with your appearance so you can carry on talking, smiling, and laughing as usual.

Some denture wearers use the opportunity to make slight alterations to the way their natural teeth looked, for example by closing small gaps or correcting unevenness. If you would like any teeth repositioned to improve the appearance of your mouth, we will be happy to advise.

Getting Used to Your dentures

It may take you a short while to get used to the feel of dentures in your mouth but this normally passes quite quickly. As with any new device, your dentures may feel a bit strange to begin with, but you’ll soon get used to wearing them. We will advise you how to look after your dentures including whether you need to remove them at any time, especially at night before you go to sleep.

If your dentures should ever need adjusting – for example to accommodate changes to the shape of your mouth and gums – you can book an appointment and we will be happy to restore them the way you want. We can also carry out other changes including any repairs that need to be done quickly.
